Crop Updates

Strawberries

Santa Maria:

Quality: Both conventional and organic fruit has good size, shape, color, and taste. A small amount of minor bruising and green tips are being seen.

Volume: Peak production will remain steady for conventional fruit over the next few weeks. Organic volume is beginning to pick up and will peak either the last week of May or first week of June.

Pack Counts: Conventional: 14-16-20 ct. depending on variety / Organic: 18-20-22 ct.

Watsonville/Salinas:

Quality: Fruit quality is excellent with good shape, sheen, and color.

Volume: Production is continuing to build week over week with peak slated for mid-to-end of June. 

Pack Counts: Conventional: 10-12-14 ct. depending on variety and ranch. 

Straw-1

Blueberries

Mexico

Quality: Quality is good with a small amount of shrivel in the pack. 

Volume: Production continues to trend above estimates as the spring crop winds down. 

Oxnard

Quality: Quality of this organic crop remains good with firm berries and good bloom. 

Volume: Harvest volumes are slowly decreasing as the season winds down.

Central Valley, CA

Quality: Conventional fruit quality is good; organic is excellent.  

Volume: Conventional volume will increase over the next two weeks as peak production starts. Organic will remain steady over the next few weeks as the season closes.

Georgia:

Quality: Quality is mixed with both excellent and fair fruit. Crews are doing a great job sorting to keep packs clean.

Volume: Wet weather delayed and decreased harvests last week. Highbush production will begin tapering off and will finish next week. The rabbiteye season is set to begin week 22.

Raspberries

Mexico:

Quality: Some overripe and leaking fruit is being seen due to continued hot temperatures, drought conditions and water shortages. Crews are working hard to produce good quality packs.

Volume: Conventional production will increase in mid-June and remain steady through the summer. Organic harvests will be light through the next month or two and pick back up toward the end of July. 

Watsonville/Salinas:

Harvest Status: Light harvests will continue through the rest of the month and gain momentum in June.

Watsonville/Salinas:

Harvest Status: Growers expect to start harvests in the next two weeks. Production is expected to pick up at the end of June.

Georgia:

Harvest Status: Harvest is underway this week with peak expected in mid-June.
