Happy Wednesday!
We have a lot in motion this week as we head into the holiday weekend! Our foodservice partners and their chefs have joined us along the journey of our first ever Chef Invitational event, and we are overwhelmed with the impressive submissions we have received! We want to thank each of you for your involvement and participation, and look forward to officially announcing our selected chefs Friday, June 1. Also, don't forget to grab your Skinny Dips before you dip into the pool over the long weekend - our Skinny Dips Sweepstakes just launched today, and we have all the summertime snacking recipe inspiration for our consumers as they take on the sunny season ahead.

Watsonville - Salinas:
Weather this week will be similar to our other California growing regions –with temperatures consistently in the 60s range, with nighttime’s in the 40s-50s. Mornings have been overcast and damp. Quality looks great with counts of 10-12 for conventional, and 14-16 for organic. Volume here is getting close to our peak and we expect to see big numbers from now through the next 6-8 weeks. Raspberry and blackberry production will be ramping up slowly but surely, with volume on the horizon over the next few weeks.
Santa Maria:
This week weather has been in the upper 60s, and low-mid 40s at night with favorable weather on our side. Quality continues to be very impressive, with fields loaded and counts averaging 18-20 among all varieties. Labor is in good shape for now, as it typically is this time of year.
Mexico:
In Mexico, thunderstorms are expected all week, with temperatures still topping out in the low-80s and falling to the high-50s. We haven't had rain for the last week and half or so, which has helped reduce quality issues from previous rains. Blackberry quality is good, and rain damage is cleaned up. Raspberries look great in size and color, most of our crop is fruit from the daughter plants.
Blueberries:
Pacific North West
Oregon, Washington Organics and British Columbia will be starting to harvest the 3rd week of June with heavy volume and good quality fruit on the way.
Georgia
We are finishing our last picks of highbush this week. With the rain in the forecast again this week, production out of this region is scarce. In about 2 weeks our late season varieties will be ready for harvest.
Central Valley
Steady production is increasing into our peak by the end of this week, for the next 2-3 weeks production will be steady. Warm, sunny days in the forecast. We are seeing great quality with great fruit size and firmness.
