Crop Updates

Strawberries

Santa Maria:

Quality: Both conventional and organic fruit have a nice shape, size and color. Overall quality is good with occasional bruising, soft skin and overripe fruit due to warm weather.

Volume: Volume continues to slowly decrease as peak season drops off.

Pack Counts: Conventional: 18-20-22 ct. depending on variety
Organic: 16-18-20-22 ct. depending on variety.

Watsonville/Salinas:

Quality: Quality is excellent.

Volume: Production is steadily increasing as peak season approaches.

Pack Counts: Conventional: 12-16, 16-20 ct. depending on variety
Organic: 20-22, 22-26 ct. depending on variety

Blueberries

Mexico

Quality: Quality is generally good with occasional shriveled fruit due to high heat. Growers are working to keep packs clean.

Volume: Production continues to wind down for the season.

Quality: Quality of this organic crop remains good at the end of its season.

Volume: Production is scheduled to finish this week.

Central Valley, CA

Quality: Overall quality is good with occasional residual issues from the extreme heat in the Valley. Growers are working to keep packs clean.

Volume: This week, conventional production will start winding down and organics will finish their season.

Georgia:

Quality: Quality is good with occasional soft fruit. Growers are keeping packs clean.

Volume: Peak rabbiteye production is expected to take place week 24 and 25.

Mexico:

Quality: Overall quality is good with some uneven and overripening from much needed rain.

Volume: Growers are keeping clean packs, which is slightly reducing volumes.

Harvest Status: Quality is good as production volumes increase.

Blackberries 

Watsonville/Salinas:

Harvest Status: Light harvests have started and will gradually increase week over week.

Georgia:

Quality: Quality remains good with only occasional red or leaky cells.

Volume: Lack of labor is causing slight decreases in volume, but crews are working hard to keep production levels up.
