Happy Thursday!

It's a busy week for all of us as PMA Foodservice is here and in full-swing. We have enjoyed the opportunity so far to meet with our partners and have some of you out to our fields and operations. Our Watsonville-Salinas berries are looking excellent and tasting just as good, and we hope you've had a chance to see for yourself. If not (yet) no worries, we have plenty of time left this summer for berry field tours. Stop by our booth #304 this Saturday to meet with our team and see what we have planned ahead.

Crop Updates

Watsonville-Salinas:

Watsonville-Salinas has been beautiful the last 2-3 days, and mild weather is remaining on the immediate forecast the next 7 days with temperatures in the 70s, and mostly sunny skies in the afternoons. Counts are 18-20 in conventional and low-mid 20s among organics. Volumes are staying steady and quality is looking good. Our raspberry crops are loaded with fruit, with blackberries looking good as well.

Santa Maria

Our Santa Maria region has been starting off the morning with dense, misty weather and warming up in the afternoons into the 70s-80s. Due to the heat in the afternoons, we are experiencing softer fruit and quality is decent. That said, this will be our last week of harvest for both conventional and organic fruit as we begin to prepare for the next season. Our summer plant should be in production the third or fourth week of August, with heavy volume expected for the middle of September.
