Watsonville/Salinas -Temps will be in the low 70’s this week. Quality is good, as our QC team continues to work with harvest crews on monitoring overripe fruit. The cooler temps are significantly helping with strawberry quality. Our blackberry volume will pick up over the next two weeks, but labor continues to be tight.
Santa Maria -Mornings have been overcast and wet. The afternoons warm up to the low/mid 70’s. Nighttime lows have been in the 50’s. This week we will continue to have damp mornings, with afternoon highs in the upper 70’s. Our blackberry quality continues to be good, with big size and minimal leaking. Our fall crop is right on track, with harvest scheduled for late August/early September. Watch for updates on timing as we prepare for new volume and be sure to get your orders placed for this time period which should line up with fall back-to-school promotions.
Blueberries - Our North American blueberries are coming down from their peak in British Columbia and Oregon, while our Michigan blueberries are just getting started. We will have an abundance of fresh blueberries through October.

We have seen a few consumer complaints in the last couple of weeks with concerns about mold and decaying berries on display in their local grocery stores. As we work our way through the hottest part of the summer throughout the U.S. please help to pay extra close attention to proper cold chain management. Timing is right for the addition of the new Locus Traxx recorders, so please let us know if you need assistance in accessing real-time reports and alerts. Also:

With $80,000 left to reach our goal, we are counting on YOU to help us donate more than 57 salad bars to schools across the country. In one week +one day from today, our 57 cyclists will be riding a grueling 200 miles from Napa to Monterey, on their quest to put salad bars in schools. These are all members of the produce industry, committed to taking the time to ride for a cause. We are very excited to be part of this event for the third year and look forward to breaking yet another fundraising record.
We need YOUR help to reach our goal! Click here to donate today!
