Crop Updates

Strawberries

Oxnard: 

Quality: Good quality with good shape, sheen and taste. Growers reporting 95-100% full color on fruit.

Volume: Volume is expected to increase largely towards the end of January.

Pack Counts: Conventional: 12-16 ct

Santa Maria:

Quality: Organic crop looks good with very light bruising and mildew. Conventional quality is good with small amounts of crooked fruit and mildew. Crews are keeping high quality packs top of mind and are working to keep these imperfections out.

Volume: Ramping up quickly week over week. 

Pack Counts: Conventional: 16-18 ct / Organic: 18-22 c

Mexico:

Quality: Organic quality is good with some green shoulders. Conventional quality is excellent with small percentage of overripening and bruised fruit.

Volume: Volume will be down slightly due to frost this past Friday for the next couple weeks

Pack Counts: Conventional: 24-26, 16-24 ct depending on variety / Organic 20-24

Florida:

Quality: Great quality with good size and color. Growers only seeing minor bruising and a little rain damage still hanging around.

Volume: Production has been slowed due to cool weather and fruit not ripening fast enough. Volume will be low until weather warms back up.

Mexico

Quality: Good quality.

Volume: Slightly lower volume than expected due to cold weather. Volume will peak mid-February and early March.

Quality: Great quality with good size, color and bloom.

Volume: In Chile, mid-season varieties are in full harvest and reaching peak harvest volumes.

Harvest: Very good.

Quality: December weather and a cold January has slowed ripening. Volume will quickly increase in early February.

Quality: Good.

Volume: Frost event late last week has reduced forecasts slightly. Growers expect numbers to bounce back mid-February.

Peak Count: 32-34 ct
