The Buzz: Your source for farm fresh berry info

February 21, 2017

Weather continues to be a factor in the majority of our growing regions and we are staying focused on keeping the plants healthy and fields clean and drained as much as possible in anticipation of dryer conditions in March for both Oxnard and Santa Maria fruit waiting to come on. As you know from watching the national news, California has seen record breaking rainfall, wind, mudslides, and flooding. While this is causing shortfalls in early season availability of berries in California, we look forward to a long successful season once the weather shifts. Extended forecasts from our weather source is saying the following:

Southern & Northern Coastal California - High-pressure ridges over the central coast by Thursday, with dry offshore flow setting up thru the weekend of Feb 25-26. Latest models are trending warmer with a fairly persistent ridge continuing thru the first days of Mar.

Additional challenges have also come from our regions in Mexico and Florida with their own weather issues of very high daytime temperatures, humidity and rain. We appreciate your support and will continue to provide you with forecasts as we get information from our field operations.
