Crop Updates

Strawberries

Oxnard: 

Quality: Good quality with full color, good shape and sheen.

Volume: Volume from Summer plantings is light, but steady. Ranches planted in the Fall are starting to come on and growers will start to walk these next week

Pack Counts: Conventional: 14-16 ct

Santa Maria:

Quality: Good quality with nice color, shape and taste. Crews are moving slow to make sure no pin rot gets in the packs.

Volume: Steady.

Pack Counts: Conventional: 22-26 ct / Organic: 26-28 ct

SM Straws 12 17

Mexico:

Quality: Good quality with some green shoulders.

Volume: Steady through the holidays.

Pack Counts: Conventional:16-20 or 24-28 depending on ranch

Florida:

Quality: Premium quality with good size. Growers are seeing a little cat face creasing, but it is improving each week. 

Volume: Increasing as we head into the new year.

Pack Count:22-28 or 28-31 depending on variety

FL straws

Blueberries

Mexico

Quality: Very good quality with good size, bloom, flavor and firmness. Fruit size is around 14-18mm.

Volume: Conventional volume will be steady through the end of the year, then drop slightly in January. Organic volume will continue to be very light the next couple weeks, with significant increase expected in January.

MX BB-2

South America:

Quality: Chilean quality at origin is good with good size, bloom and firm berries.

Volume: Chilean production is ramping up steadily. Growers are approaching peak harvest timing soon. Argentina, Uruguay and Peru are now finished for the season with their final containers in transit to arrive in the next couple of weeks.

Chile blues

Oxnard

Harvest: Expecting a small first pick of this organic blueberry crop starting week 52. Steady harvest will begin in early January and continue until early June with March and April being the peak harvest window.

Quality: Growers are reporting great quality.

Raspberries

Mexico:

Quality: Good quality with a little uneven ripening.

Volume: Volume will be steady for the next 4 weeks.

Blackberries 

Mexico:

Quality: Good quality with some red cell and wind damage. Growers working diligently to keep clean packs.

Volume: Volume to reduce over the next 3 weeks then begin increasing again in the new year.
