Crop Updates

STRAWBERRIES

Oxnard:

Harvest Status: Fall crop planting is under way.

Santa Maria:

Quality: Overall quality is good with occasional deformed tips and overripe fruit.

Volume: Volumes continue to climb with a big increase expected in September for conventional fruit.

Pack Counts: Conventional Fall Crop: 14-18, 18-22 ct. depending on ranch / Organic: 14-18, 18-20 ct. depending on ranch.

Watsonville/Salinas:

Quality: Quality is mixed with both good quality and overripe, decayed fruit from damp cool weather this past week. Crews are doing a good job keeping packs clean.

Volume: Production will remain steady for the next 3-4 weeks. Labor continues to be tight with some ranches running behind harvest schedules.

Pack Counts: Conventional: 20-25 ct.  / Organic: 28-30 ct.

BLUEBERRIES

Oregon:

Quality: Quality is great.

Volume: Production will remain steady for the next three weeks. The season is expected to be short due to multiple heatwaves this summer.

 British Columbia: 
 

Quality: Quality is good overall.

Volume: Production is winding down for the season.

Mexico:

Quality: Quality is good with nice-sized fruit.

Volume: Volume is expected to increase in week 34 with peak production forecasted for weeks 41-47.

South America:

Harvest Status: Light harvests have started in Peru and Argentina with the first conventional containers set to arrive this week and organic in week 40. The quality looks great with volume expected to be steady through December.

Quality: Overall quality is good with some weather-related soft fruit and decay. Crews are working to keep packs clean.

Volume: Production continues to increase each week.
