Crop Updates

STRAWBERRIES

Oxnard:

Harvest Status: Fall crop planting is underway.

Santa Maria:

Quality: Overall quality for both conventional and organic fruit is good with some seedy, overripe, and deformed tips. Quality is improving each harvest and crews are keeping clean packs. 

Volume: Production continues to increase each week. 

Pack Counts: Conventional: 18-20-22 ct. / Organic: 22-24-26  ct.

Watsonville/Salinas:

Quality: Quality is great despite occasional soft fruit and pin rot from damp mornings. Growers are working hard to combat these issues.

Volume: Production will remain steady for the next 4-5 weeks. Everything is still roughly one month behind last year's schedule. Labor is tight for everyone.

Pack Counts: Conventional: 20-24 ct. / Organic: 26-30 ct.

BLUEBERRIES

Oregon:

Quality: Quality is fair with some shriveling and smaller fruit from a short heatwave last week. 

Volume: Estimates have been reduced due to last week's heatwave. Organic and conventional volumes remain steady.

British Columbia:
 

Quality: Quality is mixed with good, clean fruit going to fresh packs and the rest to process.

Volume: Fresh volume is expected to be consistent for the next 1-2 weeks.

Mexico:

        Harvest Status: Light conventional harvests have started and are expected to                  increase in week 38. 

RASPBERRIES

Mexico:

Quality: Wet weather continues to impact quality. Crews are working hard to maintain clean packs. 

Volume: Production is beginning to increase. 

Watsonville/Salinas:

Quality: Quality is good. 

Volume: Production is increasing each week with peak production estimated for September.

Quality: Quality is very good with minor red cells. 

 Volume: Peak production is expected to occur at the end of August.
