STRAWBERRIES 

Santa Maria 

Quality: Both conventional and organic quality is good with nice shape and flavor. 

Volume: Production is steady.  

Pack Counts: Conventional Spring Crop: 20-24; Organic Spring Crop: 22-26-30 depending on ranch

 Watsonville/Salinas 

Quality: Quality is good with nice color, shape, and sheen. The only defect is occasional overripe fruit.   

Volume: Peak production continues.  

Pack Counts: Conventional: 14-16, 18-20 depending on ranch; Organic: 20-22, 24-26 depending on ranch 

 BLUEBERRIES 

Mexico 

Quality: Quality is good for both organic and conventional fruit.  

Volume: Conventional production is slowly decreasing, and organic volumes remain steady.  

Central Valley, CA 

Quality: Both conventional and organic quality is good.   

Volume: Peak production continues for both conventional and organic fruit.  

Georgia  

Quality: Rabbiteye quality is fair; heavy rainstorms last week caused some split fruit.  

Volume: Estimates have decreased for this week due to split fruit 

 RASPBERRIES 

Mexico 

Quality: Quality is good with occasional broken fruit.  

Volume: Production remains steady.  

Watsonville 

Quality: Quality is excellent with occasional dark fruit.  

Volume: Volumes are quickly increasing.

 BLACKBERRIES 

Mexico 

Quality: Quality is good with some leaky fruit.  

Volume: Production is on a downward trend. 

Georgia 

Harvest Status: Growers are evaluating damage from a recent hailstorm.  

Watsonville 

Harvest Status: Quality is great. Light harvests continue with volumes estimated to increase toward July.

3 simple steps for storing and serving berries: 

  1. Store berries in the refrigerator in their original packaging.  
  2. Right before serving, rinse berries under cool tap water.  
  3. Enjoy!

Tip: Remove strawberries from the refrigerator an hour before eating for the most flavorful berry.
