Crop Updates

STRAWBERRIES 

Santa Maria

Quality: Both conventional and organic fruit quality is good with nice color and occasional minor bruising.  

Volume: High volumes continue as production comes slightly off peak numbers.  

Pack Counts: Conventional Spring Crop: 18-22-24 depending on ranch; Organic Spring Crop: 20-22-24 depending on ranch 

Watsonville/Salinas

Quality: Quality is excellent.  

Volume: Production is beginning to peak and will be steady for the next 5-6 weeks.  

Pack Counts: Conventional: 12-15; Organic: 18-20 

 

BLUEBERRIES

Mexico

Quality: Both conventional and organic fruit quality is good.   

Volume: Conventional production is decreasing, and organic volumes are steady.  

Central Valley, California

Quality: Conventional and organic quality is excellent.   

Volume: Peak production is starting. 

Georgia 

Quality: Quality is good.  

Volume: Volume is light as the highbush season finishes and rabbiteye begins.

RASPBERRIES

Mexico

Quality: Quality is very good with some uneven ripening.  

Volume: Production is steady. 

Watsonville/Salinas

Harvest Status: Light harvests continue with volumes estimated to increase in June.

Quality: Quality is good.  

Volume: Production continues to decrease.

Chef invitational

Entries are now open for the 2022 California Giant Chef Invitational!

Retail, foodservice, corporate, and restaurant chefs are invited to demonstrate their skills and compete in the 4th Annual California Giant Chef Invitational for the title of California Giant Berry Farms Top Chef!

Chefs are asked to submit a delicious main dish that creatively features fresh berries as a star ingredient. A panel of judges will narrow down the submissions received to a group of Semifinalist Chefs (round 1). The winners of this will advance into the Top Chef Finalists (round 2) showdown on California's Central Coast!
