Crop Updates

STRAWBERRIES

Oxnard:

Harvest Status: Fall crop planting is wrapping up. 

Santa Maria:

Quality: Quality is good with nice color, size, and taste. Minor defects are deformed fruit and pin rot. Growers are assessing damage from rain over the weekend, but are estimating minimal damage. 

Volume: Production is slowly decreasing.

Pack Counts: Conventional Fall Crop: 18-20-24 depending on ranch / Organic Fall Crop: 18-20-24 depending on ranch

Watsonville/Salinas:

Quality: Quality is good as the season finishes.

Volume: Harvests finished late last week due to heavy rain.

Pack Counts: Conventional: 22-26 / Organic: 28-32

BLUEBERRIES

Mexico:

Quality: Quality is excellent.

Volume: Production is steadily increasing.

South America:

Quality: Quality is excellent with good size, bloom, and firmness.
 
Volume: Conventional shipments are steady and the first organic shipments have arrived. Organic shipments will increase in the coming weeks.

RASPBERRIES

Mexico:

Quality: Crews are doing an excellent job keeping packs clean as growers work to mitigate yellow rust.

Volume: Volume will decrease slightly for a few weeks and is expected to pick up in November.

Watsonville/Salinas:

Quality: Plants and fruit were protected by hoops from the regional rain.

Volume: Production will continue for a few more weeks.

Mexico:

Quality: Overall quality is fair with occasional red cells and leaky fruit.

Volume: Production is increasing.
