Crop Updates

STRAWBERRIES 

Santa Maria 

Quality: Quality is good with some soft and bruised fruit due to a week of high daytime and nighttime temperatures. Temperatures should return to normal this week.  

Volume: Conventional and organic fall crop production is increasing. Organic spring crop production is decreasing.  

Pack Counts: Conventional Fall Crop: 14-16, 18-20 depending on ranch; Organic Fall Crop: 18-20; Organic Spring Crop: 28-34

Quality: Quality is good for both organic and conventional fruit with some soft and overripe fruit due to high daytime and nighttime temps last week, but overall fruit is holding up well.  

Volume: Production is decreasing; volumes are below estimates due to extreme heat.  

Pack Counts: Conventional: 22-26 depending on ranch; Organic: 32-34

Mexico 

Quality: Quality is excellent. 

Volume: Production is increasing as the season gets underway.

Quality: Quality is good.  

Volume: Production is steady and will continue through September.

British Columbia 

Quality: Quality is good for both conventional and organic fruit.  

Volume: Production is decreasing.

Peru 

Quality: Quality at origin and upon arrival is great with good bloom and firmness.   

Volume: Production is steady. Arrival estimates have been pushed back due to delays at the port of origin.

Quality: Quality is good with large size.

Volume: Volumes are slightly below estimates due to heat; overall production is still increasing.
